Park Moon

A shot from a while back, which I really enjoy because of the visible moon.

Go Kart

From a go kart track in Ocean City.  The amount of sponsors for drivers at the sub-amateur level is really astounding.

Mill Stone

This site has hosted plenty of mill stone pictures.  This is the latest, which was taken outside the Gambrill Mill on the Mococacy Battlefield grounds.

ICC AGAIN and AGAIN

I’m getting more use out of the ICC now than I will ever hope to get after its completion.  (not an expression of opinion about the project…just a joke)  The Inter County Connector construction has been fascinating me for some time.    I really enjoy seeing the road being built and I marvel at how desolate the surrounding land appears.

It seems as though there has been an inordinate amount of space cleared for such a small roadway.  My understanding of modern roadway design is limited.  That said, I’ve learned a little from reading about the stack.  I understand that modern high speed roadways need to have long on-ramps and off-ramps without tight turns so as to keep traffic moving at near highway speed.    The space required for such an efficient flow of traffic is great and the area needed to build it and support it is even greater.  Even with this knowledge, I’m surprised at how much space has been cleared.

As I frequently drive many of the ICC construction zones as dusk approaches, the fading light makes the scene look even more remote.   You could very easily come across a picture from the area and, if you should fail to look closely, you might wonder if it’s a construction zone or a demolition area.

Largest Maryland Flag

I’m including two pictures from yesterday’s Maryland Navy game.  I wanted to keep the outcome of this post pretty neutral since both schools are here in the state.

The first is a picture of the Largest Maryland Flag in existence, which was brought out by the UMD marching band at half time.

The second picture, found below is a failed attempt at a panoramic picture of the stadium.  This is really just here for fun as the camera did a pretty good job overall, but I didn’t like how all of the navy fans were in the shadows and I didn’t like how the panorama software missed something pretty big.  Can you spot the error?  (you can click on the picture below for the full sized one)

Upper Deck

Hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend.   Maryland plays Navy at the Ravens Stadium on Monday so I thought this picture from the upper deck would be appropriate.

Birds Birds Birds

I hope you aren’t sick of these scenes from Chesapeake Beach.   I’ll throw something random into the mix tomorrow.
