POE

At wednesday’s tennis challenge, Poe was on the scene to offer free t-shirts to the crowd. Unfortunately none of the MDP staff got one.

Tennis Challenge

The tennis challenge was a good time for all last night. The attendance wasn’t quite as high as in the past, and there were some people (the Mayor) who were missing, but it was still a great event. Here are a few highlights. Above, I’ve put Lindsay Davenport serving becasue I think it’s a good picture and becasue the Orioles sign offers some proof of the location. Below, well, there’s JohnMcEnroe playing his role for the crowd.

Laurel Station 2

Since I’m picking someone up at the MARC station today, I thought of this picture when I got up and now its up here on the site. Tonight I’ll be going to the First Mariner Arena again for the annual tennis challenge, where an odd and always interesting conglomeration of tennis figures show up in Baltimore. It should be a good time. If you are interested, I’m sure its not to late for you to get tickets too. www.tennischallenge.org

Snowfall

The MarylandDailyPhoto-quarters witnesses its first snowfall on saturday. The brief storm lasted a few hours, but rains that followed the snow took away a lot of its fresh look. I took this picture about three hours into it.

Key Bridge2

MDP is taking a break from it’s online tour of Hampden. Today we have a great picture of the Key Bridge taken on a warm sunny day. The MDP staff will be visiting lots of great places for holiday pictures in the next month so stay tuned. (this is of course subject to change)

Gingerbread House

Here’s one of the other things you can buy at the Festival of Trees: a gingerbread house. In fact you can buy your choice of many different home made ones. I chose to picture this one, though it was already sold. There’s quite a bit that one can buy besides trees or gingerbread houses. In fact, most of the festival is occupied by craft and food vendors.

Festival of Trees

Having seen commercials for many years now, this past weekend, MDP traveled to the Holiday Festival of Trees in the Timonium Fargrounds. A charity even benefitting the Kennedy Kreeger Institue, the festival’s main draw is the groupings of trees for sale. Each tree was created by a different group, either a private organization or a corporate sponsor, and donated to the event. Visitors can purchase any of the trees for a donation of $125. Considering the fact that I saw trees without decorations for sale in Wal-Mart for nearly $100, $125 for a well decorated tree is almost a steal. This is one of two Maryland themed trees available. Full Size Below.

Please enjoy these two trees from Maryland.
