First Snowfall

snow1.JPG

Yesterday was the first snow I have seen all year, although I understand that in western Maryland there was a little bit of snow on Sunday.   I ran right out and took a picture.  Just to prove that it was snowing in Maryland, we have the Howard County flag, flying proudly in the snow.

The Howard county flag takes elements from other county flags, but has one unique quarter to it.   The county that brought you the “Choose Civility” bumper sticker, brings you a flag with a quarter where a semblance of the county is wrapped in a golden triange, symbolizing Howard County at center of the wealth, not of the state, but of the entire east coast.  I’m going to do my best to hunt down some of the other county symbols, and especially to nab a picture of the county bird: the American Goldfinch.

Also: I’ve fixed the categorization of previous posts, as there were more than 40 uncategorized postings.  Now all the categories on the left side of the site point to the proper postings.  Take a look.
